Many people view the Canary Islands  as ´The Surfers´ Paradise´. This is due to the constant winds combined with different types of seabeds which bring about such a wide array of waves. Moreover, you can choose the season which best suits you as the good weather will not be an issue. Of course there are many different beaches in the Canary Islands. These can be classified according to the type of wave they produce and their location. There are beaches that are suitable for beginners due to  its medium intensity, therefore making learning easier. If you are planning to visit the Canary Islands and are curious about surfing you can have a look at the list which we have compiled for you hereunder with a selection of the renowned surf schools in the Canary Islands.

LANZAROTE

  • Calima Surf School: Organises surf, kite, diving & yoga camps and can be found in the natural reserve of Famara, just a few steps away from the beach. They offer free accommodation and a wide variety of interesting surf, windsurf, kitesurf & paddlesurf courses.
  • Franito Surf: A surf school specialized for young surfers from the ages of 6 up till 12.

 

FUERTEVENTURA

  • Free Surfers Surf School: This school is located in the north coast of the island in one of the nicest enclaves of Corralejo. They have a large team of experienced surf instructors and offer Surf Camps.
  • Surf School René Egli: Offer windsurf and kite surf courses in La Laguna, at the spectacular Sotavento beach whose size varies depending on the tides is a fantastic location.
  • Surf Therapy: A surf school which also offers Surf Camps and is located in the northern coast of the island. They are in possession of the Coach ISA level 2 title. Their philosophy: surf is therapeutic.  
  • Connection Surfschool: Situated in the northern coast of Fuerteventura, Corralejo and offers tailor made courses for each student (based on their weight, height and abilities) with course follow-up.
  •  Watersports Fuerteventura: They could be found directly in Tarajalejo beach, in the Hotel R2 Bahía Playa Tofio Resort where they carry out windsurf courses, catamaran cruises and excursions.  

 

GRAN CANARIA

  • PR Surfing: With their headquarters in Maspalomas, towards the south of Gran Canaria, this school offers a large selection of classes and courses for many different types of water sports.
  • University Surf: The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria offers  to all its students the opportunity to learn how to surf.
  • Mojo Surf: Situated in the Las Canteras beach. Here the best surfers of Gran Canaria, many with great international surf titles at an international level teach surfing and body board in the safest and fastest way.
  • 3RJ Surf Academy: Also situated in the Las Canteras beach, this surf academy offers different surf courses for beginners.
  • Surf Canaries Surf School: Here one could enrol in many different types of courses from beginner level up to intermediate or advanced level.

 

TENERIFE

  • La Marea Surf: Offers all types of surf courses for beginners as well as technique improvement for both adults and children. Their headquarters are located in front of the well known beach of Martiánez in the municipality of Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife.
  • Palm Beach Surf: Located in the Las Américas beach in the south of Tenerife, they offer a range of progressive teaching methods in an easy and safe manner.
  • Wake Ten: School of wakeboarding, stand up paddle and surf, located in the sports Port of Radazul.
  • Atlantik:  Offer Surf camps and tours.
  • Escuela Canaria de Surf: Mobile surf school which offers surf classes in any area of Tenerife. Offers different types of surf courses.
