Camps for adults on Lanzarote: a different kind of holiday

The ultimate in summer leisure is the adult camps. In the middle of spring, who isn't already thinking about their next summer holiday? There are many alternatives, but most of them are not very original: beach, mountains, some trips to distant or nearby countries… the same as always.

There are more and more people who want to dedicate their summer holidays to something different. Leisure yes, rest yes, relaxation yes, but different. They are looking for something new, original and fun. From this demand, camps have begun to emerge, not for the usual contingent of children and adolescents, but for adults.

Reviving the pleasant experience of the camps of childhood, but now surpassed, and sometimes well beyond, the age of majority. This is the aim of this type of holiday experience.

But what do adult summer camps consist of?

They are aimed at people who, like you, think about having fun and disconnecting from routine, generally also taking advantage of the opportunity to practice or start practicing some sport, far from cities and, if possible, in paradisiacal natural surroundings.

It is about enjoying each day to the fullest and living unique experiences by surrounding yourself with friends, but also making new friends. And returning home with your batteries well charged to face a new course.

As we have said, this type of camp tends to be thematic in nature, focusing on a specific type of activity, such as language learning, restoration, archaeology, ecology or, for the most part, the practice of a sport.

These last ones belong to the ones we organize in Calimasurf and we are going to talk about them next.

Surf Camps in Lanzarote (Canary Islands, Spain) – Open all year round

For more than 20 years we have been dedicated to sports holidays for adults and to the teaching of multiple sports activities, such as surfing, diving, kite, yoga, sup, windsurfing, biking… Every year, about 1 500 surfers of different nationalities pass through our facilities to practice their favourite sport. If surfing is your passion or you want it to become one, you already have a plan for this holiday.

Paradisiacal surroundings

The island of Lanzarote is already a natural paradise. Declared a Unesco Biosphere Reserve in 1993, it has one of the best beaches for surfing lovers: Famara Beach. This beach has many different waves in different areas, especially under the Mirador del Rio or in the area of La Santa and Caleta de Caballo.

It is the longest on the island and, as if that were not enough, it boasts – deservedly – of being the ideal setting to witness the wonderful sunsets enjoyed at these latitudes. Intense reds that dye the sea and the beach with a magical light and have made it famous worldwide.

But there is more. This spectacular beach is part of the Famara natural reserve, a unique enclave for the practice of outdoor activities because it also has a privileged microclimate that guarantees temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees centigrade in the middle of the winter season.

Charming accommodation

Just 100 metres from the beach is our Surf House, located in a rural setting within the nature reserve itself. And with spectacular views of the Graciosa Island, which anyone can visit. A unique enclave in Spain, within the archipelago of the wonderful Canary Islands.

A place to feel at home among people of multiple nationalities and with all the services you need to enjoy your holidays to the full without worrying about anything else.
A comfortable, safe and clean accommodation where you can choose between private rooms, ideal for couples, or shared rooms, but including bedding and towels. In the common areas there is a kitchen, a solarium terrace and even a barbecue where you can enjoy entertaining and delicious gastronomic evenings with the family and the rest of the guests.

Surf school

Among all the sports activities that can be practised in our facilities (from diving to yoga, from hiking to SUP – Stand up paddle-), surfing stands out. In our school, experienced and professional instructors give courses of different levels of difficulty to start or improve in this exciting sport.

It is not in vain that we are an internationally recognised school and the first Surf Camp in Spain, highly committed to the teaching and training of this fantastic sport speciality.

This year you have no excuse to start enjoying this sport. With a maximum of 8 students per instructor, we adapt to the level of each participant. It is possible to choose between the beginners' course, for beginners, the intermediate course, to improve your technique, or the advanced course, for the more experienced ones.

On the other hand, all our instructors are also lifeguards, so safety is taken care of as much as possible.

In all cases we include accommodation, theory and practical classes, transfer from the accommodation to the place of the classes, all the necessary material and, of course, civil liability insurance.

An important detail is the material included at no extra cost, which allows you to use it outside the classes from the third day of the course. The material includes soft board, neoprene, lycra and leash. It is sufficient to leave it at the school before 6 p.m. each day.

In addition, all our material is renewed annually, so that it is always in perfect condition. And you can choose from 150 different surfboards.

Can there be a more fun plan for the summer holidays?

The new Dry surf Sytem Balance system – Our monitors are qualified in this new methodology.

In our camps it is impossible not to learn how to surf. We exclusively apply the new Dry surf Sytem Balance teaching system. It is a revolutionary method that distinguishes us from other surfing schools and guarantees an evolution in the discipline from the first moment of learning.

This teaching method, which is a pioneer on the island, includes a series of exercises carried out on the so-called Functional Balance Board, an indoor simulator. These exercises are highly effective as in 60 minutes of training it is possible for a beginner to perform between 40 and 60 take-offs. In other words, the equivalent of a full week's work in the water.

In addition, it allows a type of functional training that stimulates all the muscle groups, improving the communication of the neural system.

It is a versatile system that can be adapted to all ages, allows unlimited postures and provides security and confidence. It enables therapeutic training that not only strengthens the muscles, but also improves balance and increases agility, flexibility and coordination. It is ideal for preparing the body for extreme situations when practicing already at sea.

Summer camps for young people

The fact that we have a wide range of camps for adults does not mean that younger people are excluded. Far from it.

Every year, during the month of July, we also have summer camps for teenagers and young adults between 13 and 17 years old, with a wide variety of activities to choose from: surfing, scuba diving, kayaks, karting, volleyball, yoga… They can even practice and learn local sports, such as bola canaria, or participate in fun photo contests, workshops or excursions.

Surfing is the main activity, with a duration of 4 hours a day and one instructor for every 8 children. And always carried out with material specially designed for beginners, guaranteeing maximum safety.

There is also time for tourist trips to the south of the island, to discover places like Timanfaya National Park, Los Hervideros or Las Salinas. What there will never be is room for boredom, because we also organise the "Calimasurf Olympics", which combine sports games and games of cunning and ingenuity.

In addition to the leisure and sports activities, the students live in a house with bilingual monitors in different languages 24 hours a day and with other young people of different nationalities, which guarantees the daily practice of conversation with the rest of the participants of their age.

This without forgetting the talks on sporting values, such as participation, competitiveness, teamwork, creativity… and disconnected from the electronic devices that absorb them so much throughout the year.

Airport arrival and departure transfers are included, as well as full board. Not to mention that people with special dietary needs will have their requirements catered for, whether they are on a vegetarian, vegan or special diet for coeliacs. To sum up, to live a different and unforgettable holiday in the lucky islands, Calimasurf offers you, with its camps for adults and young people, a unique experience, healthy at one hundred percent and in a paradisiacal place where they are. On the best beach on Lanzarote for water sports, especially surfing. Something you have to experience at least once in your life. Although, for sure, you will repeat.
