Scuba diving and new technology

Discovering the amazing beauty of the seabed, being spectator of a parallel world is a unique sensation, until now almost indescribable… But today, if words aren’t sufficient, technology, which came into the diving field, can help you share your experiences.

Seeing divers with audiovisual equipment is becoming more and more common. Access to the technology has allowed great advances in many areas, and better accessibility to unknown worlds – diving included, since we can now watch and show what’s hidden in the water… via a screen! For less than 300 euros, a diver can find a good material to go undersea and film his immersions. Of course, if you invest in high definition and accessories, the expenses can be much higher. The camera model that is most used is the famous GoPro, with which you can make very good videos and photos, and its last model is waterproof down to 40 meters!

Scuba diving centres, diving clubs, surf camps and people can now share with us what they explore thanks to the videos they publish on the social networks and on the digital platforms.

Do you want to try underwater photography? Here are some tips:

– Using the Raw mode offers really good results: you can modify the brightness, colors and effects, and you won’t need to make photo editing!

-Because of the low brightness that is underwater, use low sensitivity, flash or water zoom to capture a maximum of light and to make beautiful photos or videos.

-Make sure the box remains clean. This extends the equipment lifespan and prevents water from filtering and causing fog during shooting.

-Don’t make abrupt moves, it scares the animals. Moreover, if you are patient and make slow movements, you will make better pictures.

– Do not hesitate to use the color filters and the "macro" mode which gives powerful results!

With the VR headsets that are sold in the supermarkets, you can watch hundreds of videos available on YouTube, with superb images of the seabed. For those who don’t have the headset, you can settle for the 360 degree mode. Here are some amazing HD videos:
