Christmas is here, and with it, the cold. The water is getting colder and colder and with that drop in temperature, the desire to go surfing is diminishing. Feeling that chill on entering the water and watching all your body muscles get stiffer as you try to enjoy a “good” swim is commonplace at this time of year.
But what do those who don’t like the cold but love surfing do without the need to wear a super thick neoprene that limits all their movements? Well, we can either go without surfing (which will be quite frustrating if you really like surfing), or choose some warm destination where you can enjoy your surfing sessions without worrying about the winter cold.
Here we propose a surfing destination for those who want to escape from the cold and surf under the shining star.
Without a doubt, one of the best destinations for surfing in the middle of December is one of the 7 tourist jewels of surfing in the Canary Islands. Lanzarote, a Biosphere Reserve, the most northern and eastern island of the Canary archipelago, offers countless high-quality spots and waves where you can practice your favourite sport. Left and right hand waves break along the entire coast, offering different alternatives for all levels of surfing.
Famara

In terms of accessibility, Famara boasts privileged access compared to other spots on the island, where you would normally have to walk on rock to get in. You will appreciate it.
With an average temperature of between 18 and 24 degrees throughout the year. This exotic and charming place offers exceptional conditions to practice countless water sports, such as Surfing, Stand Up Paddle (SUP), Kitesurf… all year round.
At Calima Surf, we have been offering that experience since 1996 that contains all the necessary ingredients for you to leave wanting to repeat.
Famara is your destination if what you want is to surf and enjoy nature while meeting people from different parts of the world who, like you, come looking for “that” which is not found everywhere.
Whether you come alone or accompanied, in Famara you will live an experience that only those who have passed through this idyllic paradise know.
